Teen prescription abuse is an epidemic

Every day, 2,000 teenagers use a prescription drug to get high for the first time. (National Study on Drug Use and Health, 2012) Research indicates they are accessing these drugs in the comfort of home.

• 65% of 12-17 year olds who used a pain reliever in the past year have obtained them from a friend or family member, by either buying them, receiving them for free, or taking without asking (National Study on Drug Use and Health, 2012).
